Beginning Belly Dance

Discover the joyful art of belly dance with Jenna! We will explore many basic techniques that are used to some variation throughout the diverse styles of belly dance. Learn a bit of history, the correct posture, and how to listen to the music with your body. We will finish off with basic combos that you can take with you on your journey with this ancient dance. This workshop is for all skill levels—whether completely new or would just like a refresher. Handouts are provided that detail what we learned, as well as information on how to find instructors and workshops in your area.

Facilitated by Jenna

Jenna has been part of the central North Carolina belly dance community since 2003. She has performed at a variety of venues, including festivals, restaurants and haflas. Her approach is relaxed and encouraging. She believes belly dance is a beautiful way to connect with others, as well as the aspects of self (mind/body/spirit). In addition to belly dance, she is an illustrator and graphic designer, and enjoys creative writing.

Rebekah will be assisting Jenna with this workshop. Rebekah is a student of ATS and Tribal Fusion styles, and has been dancing now for 3 years. From the joyful and upbeat, to the dark and mesmerizing, she rejoices in the dance of the spirit.
