Letter from Brian
Hello All,
Now that I have recovered a bit from our Central NC Pagan Pride Day 2007 event, I would just like to say Thank You!, To every one who came out and participated.
I would also like to thank a wonderful and dedicated Central NC PPD staff for all the hard work they have put in throughout the year to make this event happen. Our PPD may happen just one day a year but it takes 12 months worth of planning. Fortunately, I had a handful of dedicated skilled individuals who were up to the challenge again this year. Johnson was our vendor coordinator, charitable activities coordinator, and webmaster. His hard work and dedication have helped take our event to an all new level of excellence. Ric was our entertainment coordinator and put together an excellent lineup of bands and other entertainment. Jac was our workshop Coordinator and had our tents full with some great presenters. Karen took over running our Kid activities area this year. With new activities and some dedicated helpers, all had a great time. Adria, thanks for the beautiful fliers. Erika, thanks for all your work behind the scenes. I was so overjoyed to have the Knights sister organization Clann Caladvwlch, perform our opening ceremony. They're a great group and always do an excellent job. Michelle, I owe you the biggest Thanks of all, for saying that you will be our LC next year along with all the hard work you put in this year. My PPD staff have been a true blessing to me and I am grateful to them all, along with all the other folks who came participated and helped out.
When I became LC for Central NC PPD in 2005, I created an organization composed of folks from different groups in the area. This is because I believe that our PPD belongs to our entire Central NC Pagan Community, and I wanted this to be a community effort. We had two months to plan and implement the event. We may have only had our usual 15 vendors but I had re-established good relations with the State Fair grounds administration, added entertainment and a youth activities area to the event. The next year we had 21 vendors had better attendance and collected more food. This year we had 34 vendors, six bands in our battle of the bands, more kids activities, more entertainers, more people, and more food collected. We collected enough money to put on next years event even better. I am pleased with what I have accomplished for Central NC PPD, our community, and the Pagan Pride Project.
I am even more pleased to be passing the torch to Michelle Basnett who I know will keep building our PPD into an even better event. Michelle has been a big part of CNCPPDs success these past three years. She is someone that I have come to rely on and who has demonstrated she has what it takes to run this ever growing event. Still, as talented as she is, she can’t do it alone. As our event grows it is even more important that our community lends her our support. Lip service is not enough! If you want PPD to keep growing and getting better you will need to become active. No one who puts on this event receives any payment for doing so. They do it because they care. To that extent I would like to encourage any local group who has had a booth at our event or considers themselves a part of our pagan community to send at least one representative to CNCPPDs monthly meetings. Our PPD does important work for the community and I think everyone should care about that.
Once again, Thanks to you all. It has been an joy and a privilege to serve as you LC for these past three years.
Brightest Blessings,
Lord of the Hall, Royal Order of the Knights of Herne
